Dr. Jennifer Hamilton
Dr. Hamilton is a West Virginia native, growing up in the small town of Clay in central West Virginia. She decided she wanted to become an orthodontist the day she began her own orthodontic treatment at age 10. She graduated from Clay County High School as Salutatorian in 1996.
She attended West Virginia University and majored in Pre-Animal and Veterinary Sciences in order to take advantage of all the additional science classes and labs that were offered in that degree program. She graduated summa cum laude from the WVU Honors Program with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2000.
While in dental school, Dr. Hamilton spent extra time in the orthodontic clinic treating patients and completing a research project. She graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 2004 from WVU School of Dentistry. Dr. Hamilton was thrilled to receive her training in orthodontics at WVU as well. In 2007, she earned her Master of Science degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Immediately after graduation, she joined Dr. Richard E. Mcclung in his practice in Lewisburg and took over the practice solely after his retirement in January 2014.
Dr. Hamilton and her husband have been married for 30 years and have four children, two still in college. She loves spending time with her family and friends, biking, gardening, and watching football. Growing up in a small town, Dr. Hamilton understands how neighbors helping neighbors can make a huge impact. She is happy to be able to give back to the community by donating her time, money and services to various school, sports and community organizations. She is a provider in the Smiles
Change Lives charitable organization donating her services free of charge to children of families that could not otherwise afford orthodontic care.
Dr. Hamilton became a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics in 2007 and voluntarily re-certified in 2012 and 2022 through additional testing and case presentations. In fact, she is one of only 10 practicing orthodontists in WV to achieve this status. She is an Associate Clinical Professor at the WVU School of Dentistry Department of Orthodontics, teaching monthly with an emphasis on preparing residents for the Board exams as well as clinical practice. She has been administering the Board exams to residents at WVU for over 15 years. In addition to teaching students, she has given professional lectures to doctors and staff of the WV Dental Association and Southern Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Hamilton keeps up-to-date on the most innovative techniques by attending regular orthodontic meetings and continuing education classes.
